Why join the church? There are a lot of great reasons to join Memorial Baptist Church, but they are best outlined in what we all agree to be together as a church. We call this our church covenant.
Having been led by the Holy Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and upon the public profession of our faith, we were baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Therefore now we do, as a body of baptized believers, join together as a church to encourage each other, pray for each other and hold each other accountable in the love of the Lord and according to the precept of the Scriptures. We engage therefore with the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the growth of this church in knowledge, holiness and Christian maturity. We will work together to sustain its worship ordinances, teaching and outreach. We will encourage each other to contribute cheerfully and systematically to the support of its local ministries and through the Cooperative Program to North American and international causes; with our finances, time and talents.
We will continue to encourage each other to develop the Christian disciplines of personal and family devotions and prayer. We will urge our families to educate their children in the teachings of the Scripture. We will support our church’s outreach ministries. We will encourage each other and hold each other accountable to be just in our dealings, faithful in 15 our commitments and to remember that we are an example to a lost world.
In joining together as a church, we agree to pray for each other, watch out for each other in brotherly love, to help each other in times of sickness or distress, to constantly strive to mature in the cultivation of the Fruit of the Spirit, as well as being courteous, thankful, and affirming of each other. We will work to become slow to take offense and quick to forgive without holding grudges.
We also agree that should we move from the fellowship of this church, that we will as soon as possible unite with a sister church where we can continue to grow in the love and nurture of the Lord.
If this sounds like the kind of church community you'd like to be a part, of please let us know. We would be happy to have a pastor get in touch with you about becoming a member.
